Feature Differences

Like the R7, R2 and ION, the same model name is used in all regions of the world. There are differences between R5 radio models sold in different parts of the world, these differences include:

  • The model number prefix is different. For example, EMEA models have a MD prefix.
  • The regulatory labelling is different. For example, EMEA models will have CE and UKCA markings.
  • Although the radio is known as R5 in all regions, there are also some differences feature-wise between, for example, the R5 sold in North America and the R5 sold in EMEA and Asia. There are also some less obvious differences between the limited key and and non-keypad model. The below tables summarize these feature differences.
