R5
The R5 is a mid-tier MOTOTRBO portable two-way radio that replaced the DP2000e series (see the model equivalent table).[1]
Key Features[1]
The key features of this radio include:
- 64 channel capacity on the non-display model and 256 channels on the display model.
- Available as a VHF or UHF model.
- Integrated GNSS receiver for location tracking.°
- DMR Tier 2 and analogue support including Select-5, MDC1200 and QCII.
- 38mm 132 x 48px - display model.
- Uses the same audio accessories and charger as the DP2000e did.
- Acoustic feedback suppression.
- SINC+ Noise Suppression.
- AI-trained Noise Suppression.
- Intelligent Audio.
- Up to 106dB phons loudness (using the load audio profile).
- Up to 32 hours battery life in digital mode when used with a 3200mAh PMNN4889A and a 5/5/90 profile.
- IP67 dust-tight and waterproof.
- TIA4950 option.
- MIL‑STD 810H ruggedness.
The radio supports Dual Capacity Direct Mode, Conventional and IP Site Connect operation as standard - with Capacity Plus and Multisite Capacity Plus operation as an option (requires a CfS licence). This model does not support Capacity Max operation.
Although the radio currently supports Basic and Enhanced Privacy, it does not support AES-256.
° GNSS is supported in the EMEA limited keypad model, see Feature Differences below.

Feature Differences
Like the R7, R2 and ION, the same model name is used in all regions of the world. There are differences between R5 radio models sold in different parts of the world, these differences include:
- The model number prefix is different. For example, EMEA models have a MD prefix.
- The regulatory labelling is different. For example, EMEA models will have CE and UKCA markings.
- Although the radio is known as R5 in all regions, there are also some differences feature-wise between, for example, the R5 sold in North America and the R5 sold in EMEA and Asia. There are also some less obvious differences between the limited key and and non-keypad model. The below tables summarize these feature differences.
