Intrinsically Safe

Intrinsically Safe radios are special radios that have been designed for use in potentially hazardous areas such as oil refineries and chemical processing plants.

There are two major standards applicable to such equipment:

  • ATEX: mostly applicable in Europe.
  • TIA-4950: mostly applicable in the USA or where the application does not require the same level of protection offered by ATEX.
