Location
MOTOTRBO radios with Bluetooth and/or GNSS enabled can send their location to a PC-based application for display on a map.
Bluetooth would be used for applications where there is no (or little) visibility of the sky, or situations where a GPS repeater cannot be used. In such cases, the radio uses beacons (a.k.a. iBeacon) to calculate it relative position to each beacon. This information is periodically sent to the application which shows the radio location on a map or building plan.
If GNSS is used, the radio will receive signals from the GPS or GLONASS satellite system and will periodically send this to the application which display the radio location on a map.
MOTOTRBO radios use Motorola Solutions' LRRP protocol to send location updates. This is different to LIP in that the location is only sent after a certain amount of time. Location updates can also be triggered via a GPIO pin - this is known as Event Driven Location Update.
