R2
The R2 is an entry-tier MOTOTRBO portable two way radio that was introduced in May 2023.[1] [2]
Product Features
The radio supports analogue and digital operation, as well as Extended Range Direct Mode; Dual Capacity Direct Mode and IP Site Connect operation. It also supports an option to allow two-channel Capacity Plus operation.
This model is intended to be the replacement for the DP1400 since it has a similar feature-set and price point.
Like the DP1400, the R2 is sold as an analogue-only or an analogue-and-digital model variant. The analogue-only variant can be upgraded later to support digital operation via a software licence.
In analogue mode, the radio support PL, DPL and MDC1200 only.
Although the radio does not have a keypad, like the DP1400, it is possible to have the radio send preconfigured text messages (in digital mode) to predefined IDs.
The radio uses a speaker that has a lower magnetic flux. This makes it less prone to attracting metal filings. At the same time, it is able to produce up to 101 phons of percived loudness.
Like all professional Motorola radios, the R2 has undergone ALT and MIL-STD 810 certification.
It reuses all of the DP1400 audio and energy accessories such as remote speaker-microproces and chargers.
