Relay Wiring Diagram for Horn and Lights.

Horn and Lights allows the user to be alerted to an incoming call when away from the vehicle. The vehicle's horn (a.k.a. hooter) and/or lights are used depending on what is connected to the accessory port of a mobile radio. When the radio receives a call alert or emergency alarm/call, there is a delay before activating the horn and/or lights. The delay is programmable using the Horn & Lights Delay Time setting in the CPS/RM. Once activated, the Horn and/or Lights remain active depending on the settings. The Horn and Lights feature can be toggled on and off by the user via a programmable button press (Horn & Lights On/Off) or Horn/Lights in the radio menu (display model).[1]

Note: this feature is available in mobile models only!

Installation Considerations

It is not possible to connect the radio directly into the horn and/or lights circuit of the vehicle. The pin used for this cannot deliver sufficient current and so a relay must be used. The coil of the relay can only be connected to pin 26 (CPS/RM GPIO10) and 8 (Ground) of the accessory connector. For this GKN6272A (relay cable kit); PMLN5072A (accessory connector) and GMBN1021A (accessory installation kit with rubber boot) may be used. The contacts of the relay (also included in GKN6272A) can then be wired into the vehicle circuitry.
