PTT-ID

PTT-ID allows the target radio to identify the originator of a call.

A user friendly alphanumeric name or “alias” can be provisioned into the radio using the CPS or RM. Most radio models with display, will support up to 1000 alises.

These user friendly aliases are also used when initiating voice calls and digital signaling features. The alias information in the transmitting radio should correspond with the alias information in the receiving radio. The transmitting radio ID is sent over-the-air and, if there is an alias for that ID in the receiving radio, the receiving radio displays the alias. If no alias is configured at the receiving radio for that ID, then only the transmitting radio's ID is shown.

Radios with no display will not be able to display the received alias/ID but will include their own ID when transmitting.

The signaling required for PTT-ID is embedded in all transmissions when operating in digital mode.[1]

Analogue PTT-ID

Select-5 and MDC1200 support PTT-ID but the radio must be configured to send a PTT-ID either at the start or end of transmission.
