A Distance Driven Location Update is triggered when the distance traveled by a radio since the last update, exceeds the value set by the dispatch-user in in the location application. This feature reduces the number of location updates over the air when a radio user is not moving or moving slowly.

Comparison between standard location updates and Distance Driven Location Update
Number of location updates per hour
Stationary radio with 10 minute location cadence 6
Stationary radio with with 10km location cadence 0
Radio moving at 10kmh with 10km location cadence 1
Radio moving at 50kmh with 10km location cadence 5

This feature is available on all 2nd generation MOTOTRBO radios with GNSS. It also requires an application that supports this feature as well as LRRP.

ARS (or registration in Capacity max) is not affected by this setting. There is no specific configuration required in the radio to support this, other than to enable GNSS and define a destination Radio ID for location updates.
