ION
The ION is the first converged MOTOTRBO portable that offers both traditional LMR and smartphone-like functionality. It features a 102mm (480x800px) touchscreen display; 27mm top display; 13MP camera and runs on Android 10. In addition to LMR, it also supports LTE; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.[1]
Currently, it is only available as a UHF model but VHF and 800MHz will be launched in the future (with no official date given).
Unlike all previous MOTOTRBO radio models, there is a single model name (ION) for all regions with differentiation being made via model number and software. There is currently two model variants: MSLB-MKZ900 for North America and MSLB-MKZ900i for the rest of the world. The difference between these two models, is that MSLB-MKZ900 supports LTE bands B1; B8; B20; B28; B38; B40 and B41 whereas MSLB-MKZ900 supports B12; B13; B14; B17; B30 and B48.[2]
Device ownership; warranty and maintenance status is managed via MyView. and configuration is currently performed using Radio Central via Wi-Fi or LTE.
ION is also the first MOTOTRBO portable to make use of the IMPRES2 generation of batteries. The radio is available with a standard 2820mAh battery. It can optionally be ordered with a 2900mAh TIA-4950 intrinsically safe battery.
In addition to audio enhancement features like Automatic Gain Control; User-Selectable Audio Profiles; Trill Enhancement; Acoustic Feedback Suppression; Intelligent Audio; and Microphone Distortion Control, the ION also has Adaptive Speaker Equalization; Adaptive Dual Microphone Noise Suppression and Adaptive Wind Noise Mitigation.
